Fish Paste Ngoh Hiang - Prelude

Do you like Ngoh Hiang?
I do like it, very much... but it is a tedious process.
Call me silly but I miss my MUM whenever I do get to eat one.
Truth be told, I hardly eat Ngoh Hiang that are store bought
Why oh why oh why?
I dislike the taste.
That starchy, heavy five spice aka 五香粉taste lingering on my taste buds.
Mum's brown little wraps still taste way better than anything I can remember.

I'm very much accustomed to my Mum making this dish, on days of festive celebrations and family gatherings.
Alas Mum has aged as I grew older.
Fatigue and old age had caught up with her.
Much work to do for such simple dish.

This was when I decided to make the dish that an authentic Teochew Ah Nia has to learn.
Nah, just kidding about that.
Well, I have to start some where some right?

In fact I had made this particular dish a couple of times, perhaps even three, four? No?
Trying to perfect it each and every time.
Secret: I have got a love partner with fussy taste buds. Blah!

This time , I infused fish paste into the dish.
I will be postomg the recipe for this soon.
I need to get my measurements right..
Over and out! 😁✌

The First Sacred Post

Should I or should I not?
Do I have the time to manage?
How will I go go about doing this?
These were the questions that came to my mind.
What about?
I pondered for the longest time.
Days, months and perhaps years?
Yes. It’s the BIG QUESTION if I should start a blog.
Not just any blog but one that feeds on my interest, love and family.

A Cook Blog!

Honestly I tried to start one donkey years ago or did I?
Hahaha, as one grows older, one starts to suffer from a slight dementia.
In my case, I call it post pregnesia.. suffering from short term memory after one have kids.
Shush.. I not really that old.

Blogging requires time.
Loads and tons of time to sit at the desk.
Photo editing, HTML editing, the list goes on and on.

One fine day, a strange thought came to me while surfing through the apps in App Store.
“Hello?? It’s 2013. Surely there must be an app that allows one to blog from their hand held devices?”
I am practically on my iPhone all the time.
Ok, so not all the time. I don't sleep with my iPhone!
Well this nifty little smart phone has made my life easier for some reason or another!
I googled with it, Facebook, Instagram. You named it I could have done it.
Well, I am like a busy little bee!
That is a life of a full time working mother.
In particular after a hard's day work and having that lovely foot massage given by my wonderful husband.... and my iPhone. LOL
I am busy posting pictures of the dinner we had chomped down earlier. the breads I was baking earlier, the cake I was slicing earlier..
Sometimes I steal time during my 5 minute break to look through the Facebook groups.
It’s a wonder how much I have learnt from people, strangers whom I have not met. Sharing experiences and tips on a common hobby that we share!
Do pardon me.
This is a rather lengthy post.
All hail the smart phone! Now I can blog in the comfort of mobility!
If you are already reading this first post and I'm not boring you out, just linger a while longer,
Feel the hunger pangs when you read the food postings.
Nevermind me, there I go digressing again.

If you like to look at food pics, this one might just make you a little happy.
Do I hear someone snoring already?
ZzzZzZzz...
Alright! The maternal naggy instincts are at work again.
Over and out!
